has anyone had a fight recently.  and if you did , did your skills kick in or disappear for a second.

Adrenalin doesn't always show up at the right time , much like your fighting skills and breath control.

Me , i came close to a fight , i braced myself , looked to the left and right while facing this guy. He saw that i wasn't backing down and probably decided not to approach me , but it ended before it started. All i know is that i wanted to injure him before he hurt me. ( fake high , strike low and anything else to send him spiraling to the ground).
What about u ?

Annual Gathering of Northern Chiu Leun Mantis

Hello, To all

Our annual gather in coming up on January 17-18, 2009 in New York. I understand some of you from out of town will be staying longer.  All are welcome.  Will are trying to come up with a list of places to stay and other things to know about New York like what’s Chinatown like these days.

Articles We need articles for publication.  Please submit something your would like to share with others.  Anything from a paragraph to a few pages is welcome and even a poem or photos are cool.

One idea is to write a paragraph or two on what you feel a master means to you.  How do you define the term?

Another idea is what is the role of religion or faith to the martial artist in the world today, as this role changed and should it?

Ok, so those are some ideas to think about if you can think of one yourself.  Maybe you want to send a portion of something longer your working on, please let us know which part we can publish.  You will of course retain all copyrights, as far as we are concerned, but try to submit new unpublished works.

Try to send work soon, before middle of December, thanks

It will be good to meet all of you ,  especially those that i have not seen for over 25 years.

I'm sure that Chiu tong long will be seen in many strengths due to the talents each person already had.
I will begin my walk towards N.Y. in the last week of December.

Somebody please let me know if N.Y. has any inexpensive hotels , or , can i spin Saturday nite in your school.  (for real, real).

Our annual 7 Star Northern Mantis get together will be January 17-18, 2009Hello

We will be gathering Saturday morning to exchange ideas and concepts in our practice and address questions of interest in Seward Park, if weather permits.  http://www.nycgovparks.org/parks/M082/  We did not get enough feedback to warrant booking studio space, of course this could change, but studio or not we will meet, even if its just for morning dim sum.  We will be at the park around 10:30 am, near the basket ball courts, if it rains we will be in the Wing Soon restaurant across the street on the corner of East Broadway.

The both events are open to all friends of our mantis family who have a open mind and can be tolerant of the ideas of others, at least for a short time anyway.

We will meet in the evening of the 17 of January in New York's Chinatown for Dinner and conversation with some presentations and demonstrations hopefully. The restaurant is called Yung Sun, located at 47 East Broadway, NY, NY. 1 212 346-9890.  http://www.mapquest.com/maps/47+E.+Broadway+New+York+NY+10002+United+StatesSmiley
We will be meeting around 6:00 pm at the restaurant.  The eventing event will cost about 35.00 dollar to cover the cost of the food provided.  We would like to thanks those that gave extra last year.  Those extra funds will help the year if some of our brethren are a bit short this year, in these hard times.

Hope to see you all soon

om peace

Anyone here active at the kungFuFlix.org video hub? they have oldies and new stuff.  Wink

the website is off-line during upgrade, but the hub is still going. I think it's a 20 gig minimum to get started.

It really depends on the exponent and what is meant by a hard kick.

Some kicks rely heavily on the thrusting power while others utilize slicing/cutting power.

As long as it has the intended desire any kick would be useful.
