This is the official website of the Northern Shaolin 7 Star Praying Mantis Institute and Association of Sifu Chiu Leun. It supports both the active work of the Association in fellowship, support, community, and outreach, and the work of the Institute in research, preservation, documentation, translation, and interpretation.
本網站乃趙麟師父北少林七星螳螂研究所與協會之官方網站，兼以支持協會持續進行之聯誼、扶助、社群與推廣工作，以及研究所於研究、保存、整理、翻譯與詮釋諸方面之工作。
The Star Praying Mantis Institute is an independent United States–based research organization devoted primarily to the study of Northern Shaolin Seven-Star Praying Mantis, together with the textual, historical, philosophical, and practical traditions that inform it.
七星螳螂研究所乃設於美國之獨立研究機構，專以北少林七星螳螂拳為首要研究對象，並旁及與之相關之文獻、歷史、思想及實踐傳統。
We are not a martial arts school and not a university-based program. Our principal work is research: the preservation, documentation, translation, and interpretation of martial knowledge, and the serious study of martial movement as embodied knowledge.
本所非武館，亦非大學附屬計畫。本所之本務在於研究：保存、記錄、翻譯與詮釋武學知識，並將武術動作作為具身之學而加以審慎探討。
Our model is informed in part by the historical idea of the Invisible College and the Republic of Letters. This does not imply secrecy. Rather, it points to scholarship without walls: serious inquiry advanced through correspondence, exchange, comparison of sources, and open intellectual labor beyond any single institution.
本所之研究取向，部分取法於歷史上所謂「無形學院」與「學人共和國」之精神。此義非關祕密，而在表明一種無牆之學：其研究不局限於單一機構之內，而經由書信往復、學術交流、文獻比勘與公開之思辨勞作而推進。
We preserve the Chiu Leun lineage, yet preservation alone is not enough. We also seek to evolve and grow, taking the experience of the Chiu Leun school together with our other prior knowledge as a foundation for continued study and development.
本所珍視並保存趙麟傳承，然徒守其舊，猶未足也。我們亦重其延展與生發，以趙麟門中之學習經驗及其他既有知識為基礎，以資後續之研究與發展。
The Institute and the wider Association are related but distinct in function. The Association remains active through fellowship, mutual support, community life, and outreach, while the Institute is more specifically devoted to research, preservation, translation, and analysis.
研究所與較廣義之協會彼此相關，而職能有別。協會之工作仍持續進行，著重於聯誼、互助、社群生活及推廣；研究所則專司研究、保存、翻譯與分析等事。
Since Sifu Chiu Leun died many years ago, the present work of the site joins two continuing responsibilities: to sustain the living community associated with his tradition, and to preserve, study, and further develop the knowledge connected to that lineage.
由於趙麟師父已於多年前辭世，故本網站當前之工作兼負二端：一則維繫與其傳統相關之活態社群，二則保存、研究並進一步發展與該傳承相繫之知識。
This site was created by its present editor, and it reflects not only a commitment to Star Praying Mantis research, but also broader intellectual interests that have helped shape its method and presentation. Some of those related interests may also be found at Social Alchemy.
